Back to School

(again)

After a grueling three months of non-stop work - there’s a reason I didn’t blog, and it’s not just that I don’t always have anything to babble about (ask around, I can be the chatty death of anyone) - I’m out and about, at last: a jaunty little trip to the big city …to get schooled.

Yup. Two days of training on the publishing platform Lodel, before I can start volunteering for the journal Le Portique. I promised a while back to help them better their online presence somewhat (not that my abilities in that respect are especially above par, but for poor organizations, you know how it goes, every little bit helps).

The training is provided by the people of Revues.org, who do amazing work to bring French scholarly journals online, archives included (and not just French of course). Though their introductions this morning of both the org and the software, I re-discovered things I had forgotten about the Open Archives Initiative, which led me again to the Open Journal System (and the mouth watering future Open Monograph Press).

These things make me happy, so I thought I’d take advantage of our short break to drop the links here.
